INTERPRETING SCHOOL POLICIES WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF POLITICAL IDEOLOGIES

Political ideologies provide a framework for understanding the values and priorities underlying school policies. This study examined how prospective teachers interpreted school policies through liberalism, conservatism, socialism, and nationalism. Designed as a qualitative case study, the research involved 40 prospective teachers who completed a written interview form. Data were analyzed using descriptive and content analysis. The findings showed that school policies were not associated with a single ideology; instead, different orientations became prominent depending on the policy domain and its rationale. Liberalism was linked to individual freedom, choice, and achievement; socialism to equality, social justice, and public support; conservatism to order, tradition, and cultural continuity; and nationalism to national identity, shared culture, and historical heritage. The study concludes that school policies are not merely administrative regulations but practices reflecting different ideological values.
