In this article we propose to analyze the chromatic terms from medical terminology through the prism of semiotics. Selection of colors from all branches of medicine, highlighting the etymological aspect of the name of the pathology or clinical symptoms; to discover and describe the colors most frequently encountered in medical terminology. Starting from the concept of color, which is a category of knowledge of the world found in all fields of activity, it is a sign - an element of semiotics, also applied in medical terminology. We will analyze the lexical-semantic system of color names as a set of coloremes linked by a subordination relationship with a medical concept expressed by the color of the arhilexem, a fact also proven in the names of disease manifestations: jaundice, cyanosis; names of skin diseases: red nasal granulosis, vitiligo; names of congenital diseases: albinism. Not all colors are involved in the formation of medical terms in English and Romanian. The following phraseological units white, blue, red, black, yellow, gray predominate, which occupy an important place in the lexical-semantic system of languages, including the language of medicine. Thus, chromatic lexemes are part of medical terminology as symbols of the nominations of various diseases, skin color, names of blood cells, patient appearance and body characteristics. The definition of chromatic terms in medical language plays a special role in linguistics and semiotics.
